IS Ignite launches Cloud Server

Internet Solutions (IS) Ignite has launched a public cloud solution targeted at the South African SME market. Cloud Server is affordable and flexible enough for businesses in the SME market segment, and delivers enterprise-level reliability, scalability and uptime.

"IS has a big focus on cloud services," says Herman Jansen van Rensburg, general manager: IS Ignite. "We're offering both software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service. Companies today do not want to invest in hardware, they need to be lean, and Cloud Server for SMEs brings that enterprise benefit to the SME market space."

Cloud Server has been priced specifically for the SME sector, and costs range from R80 to R350 per month per virtual server. The service is offered on a month to month basis, so there is no long-term commitment. Support is offered 24x7, and users have a choice of Linux or Windows operating systems.

"The solution is hosted in IS' world-class data centres," says Jansen van Rensburg, "which means it's locally hosted and supported, and customers' connections to the cloud service are fast."

For smaller businesses, which typically acquire ICT infrastructure only when they absolutely have to, being able to scale up or down on a month-to-month basis represents a substantial cost and efficiency saving, he adds.

Cloud services offer the additional benefit of redundancy - a business' servers are not hosted in their offices and thus are not vulnerable to theft or damage in the event of a catastrophe. Hosting servers in the cloud also means they are accessible from wherever users are - via mobile, tablet, laptop or desktop - bringing mobility and its associated productivity benefits to the business.

Users can self-provide virtual compute or storage resources as they need them, meaning they are not reliant on either an IT department or support staff at the service provider. They can adjust their resources on the fly.

The platform is maintained and upgraded by IS. Additionally, sign up is instant and payment made via credit card, meaning no tedious forms to be filled out or credit checks to be done.

"SMEs need flexible, reliable compute and storage solutions that free them up to do what they do best - run the business. With the IS Ignite Cloud Server offering that just became possible, available and affordable," Jansen van Rensburg concludes.

Ignite launches Cloud Accounting

Johannesburg, 16 September 2014 - Ignite, the online ICT platform for small and medium businesses, powered by pan-African telecommunications provider Internet Solutions (IS), has announced the launch of its new Cloud Accounting service that is targeted at small and medium accounting firms and small to medium sized businesses (SMEs).

This cloud based service will enable SMEs to increase business flexibility and productivity. As a multi-user accounting application, businesses can manage, track and reconcile customer and supplier invoices, receipts, and add or remove inventory items securely.

"We recognise the need to empower and assist SMEs with managing their day to day accounting services which will in-turn save them time and costs. The new Cloud Accounting service is a cloud based application which means it can be accessed, used and managed from anywhere - all that is needed is an internet connection. ", says Herman Jansen van Rensburg, General Manager of Ignite.

A research study conducted by CCH Collaborative Solutions on cloud computing and the accounting industry confirmed that the shift onto cloud-based software platforms for accounting services is well underway. According to the report, the uptake of cloud solutions has been steady in recent years, and the shift is accelerating and will soon approach critical mass. Furthermore, the survey indicated that six in 10 (60%) accountants who were not using a cloud-based system were likely to consider one within the next two to three years.

Ignite is offering a 30 day free trial period of their cloud accounting package, and thereafter businesses can easily purchase and activate the service online, without any contracts or paperwork. To provide this user-friendly cloud accounting service, Ignite has partnered with accounting package specialists, Sage Pastel.

Ignite's Cloud Accounting package offers the following benefits:

  • Simplicity: the software is written in an easy to understand everyday language - the users don't have to be accountants to use it
  • Flexibility: everything is completely hosted online and access to business management software is available anywhere, anytime and will only need internet connection
  • Security: password encrypted and no back-ups needed
  • Compliancy: the cloud service is up to date with the latest legislation and remains SARS compliant
  • Collaboration: the service allows companies to work with their accountant online on the same data at the same time.

IS and Incredible Connection offer consumer broadband

Internet Solutions (IS) and Incredible Connection have partnered to offer consumers and small businesses end-to-end DSL solutions, available via signup in-store or from the www.connection.co.za website.

Known as Connection DSL powered by IS Ignite, the offering enables Incredible Connection customers to walk into a store, buy a router, signup for uncapped Internet and walk out connected. Throughout the process, customers are assisted and advised by expert consultants.

"The adoption of DSL in South Africa is growing rapidly as Telkom continues to drop pricing and upgrade existing infrastructure," comments Herman Jansen Van Rensburg, GM of IS Ignite. "The continued growth of mobile and smart devices in the home, combined with the cost and unpredictable nature of mobile data, as well as the rise in popularity of online and connected gaming are key drivers of DSL adoption. Consumers are looking for a high speed, low cost means to remain connected."

Jansen Van Rensburg also explains that the partnership is of strategic importance as it significantly expands the company's distribution network into the retail space. "With over 70 Incredible Connection stores nationwide we have been able to reach more clients, and make the service more accessible to the public."

Two uncapped product variants are available initially - one designed for home use, while the other targets small businesses. There are also different line speeds available, with 1, 2, 4 and 10Mbps options.

"The home offering poses aggressive market pricing, while the business product includes a monthly allocation of 300MB of Wi-Fi data from AlwaysOn to enable greater mobility."

The solution is available on a month-to-month basis, so customers are not obliged to enter into a long-term contract. "Additionally, we are offering a limited numbers launch promotion where the first 1000 signups receive special pricing of R99.00 per month, which will make this the most affordable 2Mbps DSL offering in the country," says Jansen Van Rensburg.

The Connection DSL Home Uncapped package offers four line speed options, which are bundled with DSL, mail, and fax-to-email.

  • 1Mbps: R164.00
  • 2Mbps: R194.00 (or R99.00 for the first 1000 customers)
  • 4Mbps: R260.00
  • 10Mbps: R499.00

The Connection DSL Business Uncapped package includes DSL, mail, fax-to-email, and Wi-Fi connectivity through all AlwaysOn hotspots.

  • 1Mbps: R254.00
  • 2Mbps: R354.00
  • 4Mbps: R594.00
  • 10Mbps: R894.00
